A Chakra Meditation to Clear Away Negative Energy

Each and every day we are exposed to a great number of various energies. Some we can clearly feel and others work on a more subtle level. Numerous individuals are aware of energies affecting them while others are completely unaware of the fact.

No matter where you sit on the spectrum of feeling the energies that affect you, it is possible to clear them away.  All you truly need is the belief in yourself and your ability to move any stagnant energy that may be accumulated in your being. For this post and meditation I would like to focus specifically on clearing your chakras.

What are chakras you ask? Chakras are "wheels" (direct sanskrit translation) that all humans have and act as energy vortexes which connect us to the universe at large. It is known that there are 7 main Chakra's  spread down our body starting from the top of our head to our tail bone. Each of the 7 main chakras correspond to a vibration, colour and a mantra.

The following is a list of the 7 chakras and their corresponding colour and mantra's starting at the top of the head:

7 Main Chakras

It is understood that the chakras can become blocked and therefore need regular attention to balance them back to a state of harmony. When our chakras are in harmony it helps our body to positively regulate its functioning. 

Much like if your bicycle were to have a sticck stuck in the wheel or mud on its spokes. The bicycle would not function to its full potential until you cleared the stick away or washed off the mud. Imagine your chakras to be like the wheel of the bike and the stick and mud to be negative, stagnant energy or trapped emotions.

When I started to work on clearing and strengthening my chakras I felt a noticeable difference in my being. Awareness of my surroundings and functioning in day to day life improved. It has become a daily practice of mine to check in with these wheels of energy and I hope to be able to help you feel the benefits of working with your own chakra system.

The Chakra Balancing Meditation

This is a meditation that was taught to me by a devoted buddhist at a Temple in Southern Australia. Please feel free to read through it and then practice it on your own or with a friend.

Quick Meditation to Clear Negative Energy

1) Start by ensuring you will not be interrupted for the next 10 minutes and find a comfortable seated position. It is ok if you need to sit on a couch or against a wall, I myself have an easier time meditating when my back is supported. The important thing here is to be sure that your spine is straight.

2) Now close your eyes, bring your hands to your heart center and take 3 deep breaths. Inhale deeply into your lungs and belly until every last possible sip of air is inside. Exhale slowly allowing your lungs to empty.

3) Continue to breath deeply and set an intention, goal, or focus on a positive affirmation which you hope the next few minutes will help you with. For example: I am healthy, whole, and happy. Lower your hands to a comfortable position on your thighs with your palms facing up.

4) Start at the root chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of red light spinning from the base of your spine. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour red and imagine it filling your root chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour red already, like an apple. Take three breaths like this.

5) Now move to the sacral chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of orange light spinning from the area about a hands width below the navel. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour orange and imagine it filling your sacral chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour orange already, like an orange. Take three breaths like this.

6) Next move to the solar plexus chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of yellow light spinning from the area just above the navel. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour yellow and imagine it filling your solar plexus chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour yellow already, like a lemon. Take three breaths like this.

7) Now move to the Heart chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of green light spinning from your heart's center. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour green and imagine it filling your sacral chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour green already, like an avacado. Take three breaths like this.

8) Next move to the throat chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of blue light spinning from the center of your throat. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour blue and imagine it filling your throat chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour blue already, like the sky. Take three breaths like this.

9) Now move to the third eye chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of purple light spinning from the area between your eyes. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour purple and imagine it filling your third eye chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is the colour purple already, like an eggplant. Take three breaths like this.

10) Next move to the crown chakra and imagine a lovely wheel of white-pink light spinning from the top of your head. Imagine that any impurities, dirt, sludge, or negative trapped emotions are now spinning off of the wheel and into the earth to be restored into loving energy. 

Focus on the colour white-pink and imagine it filling your crown chakra now with fresh new light. If it is easier for you, focus on something that is this colour already, like a quartz crystal. Take three breaths like this.

11) Finish by filtering down and up your chakras imagining each colour for a moment and notice how much more clear the line feels then before your started. Put your hands back to your hearts center and thank yourself for taking the time to clear and transmute negative vibrations from your aura.
